Rajasthan Education Department Implements Strict Exam Regulations in Government Schools
The Rajasthan state education department has announced a significant policy change, restricting the conduct of examinations in government schools to only those administered by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). This decision, detailed in an order issued on March 14 by Director of Secondary Education Sitaram Jat, is designed to maintain an uninterrupted learning environment for students and prevent academic losses.
Key Provisions of the New Order
The order explicitly states that no examinations of any kind, other than those scheduled by RPSC, RSSB, and the department of education, shall be conducted within school premises without prior permission from the directorate. Additionally, the department has declared that there will be no holidays in schools during this period to ensure maximum academic days. This move aims to facilitate a continuous and quality education experience for students across the state.
Increased Academic Days and Reduced Vacations
To further enhance educational outcomes, the state education department is initiating the next academic session on April 1 this year. By starting the session in April, the number of teaching days in state government schools will increase from the current 180 days to 214 days. In a related adjustment, summer vacation in government schools is being reduced to one month, specifically from May 16 to June 20. These measures are part of a broader effort to provide more structured and effective learning opportunities for children.
Implementation and Oversight
The director has instructed all joint directors of different divisions within the education department to grant permission for any other type of exam only after obtaining prior approval from the directorate of secondary education. This centralized oversight is intended to streamline exam scheduling and minimize disruptions to the academic calendar. The order, made available on Monday, underscores the department's commitment to prioritizing student learning and academic integrity in Rajasthan's government schools.
