Ranchi RTE Admissions: High Demand for Reserved Seats in Private Schools
The district administration in Ranchi has reported a significant response to the admissions process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. A total of 1,499 applications have been submitted for the 1,161 seats that are reserved for students from weaker and disadvantaged groups in the city's private schools.
Application Window and Verification Timeline
The application window for these reserved seats opened on February 16 and officially concluded on March 22. Following the closing date, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri conducted a crucial meeting with officials on Monday. During this meeting, he directed that the verification of all submitted documents must be completed by March 26.
Online Lottery and Selection Process
The date for the online lottery, which is a computerised random selection process, will be announced shortly once the certificate verification is finalised. This lottery is designed to ensure a fair and transparent allocation of the reserved seats among the applicants.
RTE Act Provisions and Implementation
Under the RTE Act, 25% of seats in the primary classes of recognised private schools are strictly reserved for children from underprivileged sections. This initiative aims to promote inclusive education and provide equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background.
The entire admission process is being facilitated at the district level through the dedicated online portal, rteranchi.in. This digital platform streamlines the application, verification, and selection procedures, enhancing efficiency and accessibility for parents and authorities alike.
Commitment to Transparency and Fairness
Deputy Commissioner Bhajantri emphasised the administration's dedication to this cause. He stated, "The district administration is committed to providing quality education to children belonging to weaker and underprivileged sections of the society with complete transparency and fairness. This process represents a significant step towards ensuring equal opportunities for every child in society, in consonance with the spirit of the RTE Act."
Parental Access and Support
Parents can check the status of their applications directly on the rteranchi.in website. For any assistance or to register a grievance, the Deputy Commissioner has urged citizens to utilise the contact numbers provided on the website. This ensures that parents have the necessary support throughout the admission process.
The high number of applications highlights the strong demand for quality education among underprivileged families in Ranchi. It underscores the importance of the RTE Act in bridging educational gaps and fostering social equity through accessible schooling opportunities.
