Indian Association of Sharjah Appeals to PM Modi for CBSE Students in UAE Amid Regional Unrest
The Indian Association of Sharjah (IAS) has formally written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging a student-centric approach to assist Indian students in the United Arab Emirates who are preparing for their CBSE Class XII examinations. This appeal comes in response to exam postponements triggered by the escalating conflict in the Middle East, including recent tensions between Israel and Iran.
Exam Delays and Student Anxiety in the UAE
According to the association, approximately nine to ten examinations remain pending across various academic streams for these students. The volatile regional situation has sparked significant anxiety within the student community and among their parents. In a detailed representation, the IAS emphasized that any further disruption at this critical juncture could severely impact the smooth completion of academic assessments and subsequent higher education admissions, both within India and internationally.
"With approximately nine to 10 examinations still pending across various streams, the current regional situation has led to significant anxiety among the student community and their parents," stated Nissar Thalangara, President of the Indian Association Sharjah. "In the representation, we highlighted that any disruption at this stage could have a direct impact on the smooth completion of academic assessments and subsequent higher education admissions, both within India and internationally."
Call for Government Intervention and Balanced Approach
In the letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Thalangara articulated that the Union government should adopt a balanced and forward-looking strategy to ensure that secondary education is concluded without additional stress or delay. He stressed the importance of a timely and student-friendly decision to keep admission windows for universities worldwide accessible to Indian students based in the UAE.

Regional Context and Parental Concerns
The appeal is set against a backdrop of regional instability, with the local government in the UAE having declared an early spring vacation until the end of the month as a precautionary measure. In neighboring countries such as Bahrain, schools have transitioned to online classes due to attacks from Iran, reflecting the broader challenges faced by educational institutions across the Middle East.
As the situation remains difficult and unpredictable, parents of affected students are increasingly concerned. They believe that the central government must take decisive action to benefit school students in the Middle East, ensuring their academic progress is not derailed by geopolitical conflicts.
The Indian Association of Sharjah's plea highlights the need for proactive measures to safeguard the educational futures of Indian students abroad, particularly in regions experiencing heightened tensions.
