Andhra Pradesh Students with Special Needs Embark on Historic Everest Base Camp Expedition

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and holistic education, a group of students with special needs from Andhra Pradesh is set to undertake an ambitious expedition to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The programme was officially launched by Education Minister Nara Lokesh during a ceremony held at his Undavalli residence, marking a significant step forward in educational empowerment.

Details of the Pioneering Trek

The expedition is being meticulously organised under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, a comprehensive educational framework. A total of 21 students, including eight girls, have been selected from government institutions across Andhra Pradesh. These participants range from Class 9 to intermediate levels, showcasing a diverse representation of academic stages.

The 16-day trek is scheduled to commence on April 15 and conclude on April 30. The journey will begin with the team traveling to Kathmandu, Nepal, before embarking on the challenging ascent to the Everest Base Camp, which is situated at a formidable altitude of 5,364 metres above sea level.

Minister Lokesh's Inspirational Address
