Three Teachers Suspended, Over a Dozen Served Notices in Banka District
In a significant disciplinary action, three teachers have been suspended on charges of misconduct, assault, and molestation in Banka district, Bihar. Additionally, more than a dozen other educators have been issued show-cause notices for irregularities in marking attendance. This decisive move was directed by District Programme Officer (DPO) Sanjay Kumar Yadav, aiming to uphold educational standards and ensure student safety.
Departmental Proceedings Initiated
District Education Officer (DEO) Dev Narayan Pandit confirmed the development, stating that departmental proceedings have been formally initiated against all implicated teachers following thorough investigations. The actions underscore a zero-tolerance policy towards unethical behavior within the education system, with authorities committed to maintaining integrity and accountability in schools across the region.
Specific Cases of Suspension
The suspensions involve severe allegations. In Phulidumar block, teacher Md Kalam was suspended after being found guilty of molesting a Class V student. The incident, reported on March 5, involved inappropriate touching, and an inquiry substantiated the claims, leading to immediate disciplinary measures.
In Belhar, physical education teacher Vijayant Kumar Singh faced suspension for assaulting and verbally abusing a school attendant. The complaint was lodged by Hemant Rishikesh, the in-charge headmaster of High School, Beldidah, highlighting concerns over staff conduct and student welfare.
Similarly, Balwant Kumar, a teacher at Primary School, Maratikar, was suspended for failing to comply with headmaster instructions, indicating broader issues of insubordination and lack of adherence to administrative protocols.
Attendance Irregularities Detected
Beyond individual misconduct, the department uncovered serious irregularities in the e-Shiksha Kosh attendance portal. Investigations revealed that several teachers were marking attendance online while residing in other districts, a practice deemed as misconduct. This has prompted scrutiny into systemic flaws and the need for stricter monitoring to prevent such abuses.
Show-Cause Notices Issued
Teachers from multiple blocks, including Belhar, Dhoraiya, Katoria, Khadrahra, and Rajaun, have been asked to submit explanations for various issues. Those named include Rajesh Kumar, Pratap Kumar, Shambhu Kumar, Ashish Anand Thakur, Anand Lal Yadav, Viresh Prasad Yadav, Sone Lal Das, Durgesh Kumar, Ekramul Haque, and Suman Kumar Yadav. Departmental action has been initiated in these cases as well, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing grievances and enforcing discipline.
This crackdown aims to restore trust in the educational framework, with authorities emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct and regular attendance for effective teaching and learning environments.
