TN Education Dept Begins Book Distribution for Classes IV-XII

The education department in Chennai has initiated the distribution of textbooks for upper primary, high school, and higher secondary classes. The Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation (TNTESC) has delivered at least 3.72 crore books for Classes IV through XII to designated godowns across the state.

Current Distribution Status

As of the latest update, 6.46 lakh out of 13.01 lakh books for Class I; 5.81 lakh out of 12.79 lakh books for Class II; and 6.75 lakh out of 12.84 lakh books for Class III have been delivered. The distribution for Classes VI to XII in government and aided schools is currently underway.

School heads have the option to collect the books directly from the godowns. Private schools have been instructed to purchase their textbooks from these godowns as well. According to school education director S Kannappan, who inspected the delivery at a godown in Chennai on Tuesday, all books will be available to students on the first day of the reopening of schools.

Primary Classes Schedule

For primary classes (I to III), distribution will commence later this week and is expected to reach schools by the end of May. These classes are receiving newly printed books this year, aligned with the state education policy. M Aarthi, Managing Director of TNTESC, confirmed that the remaining books for Classes I to III will be distributed by May 15.

The department is ensuring a smooth process to avoid any delays in the academic year. This initiative covers all government, aided, and private schools in Tamil Nadu, aiming to provide timely access to educational resources for students across the state.
