Tribal Student Protest in Ratlam After Suicide Attempt

Student Suicide Attempt Triggers Massive Tribal Protest in Ratlam

A disturbing incident at a private school in Ratlam district has sparked widespread outrage and protests from tribal student organizations. The crisis unfolded when a student attempted to end his life by jumping from the third floor of a private educational institution located in Dongre Nagar.

The serious incident occurred on Friday, leading to immediate backlash from the tribal community. On Saturday, Bhil Pradesh Vidyarthi Morcha organized a significant demonstration outside the school premises to demand justice for the victim.

Three-Hour Road Blockade and Key Demands

The protest gained momentum under the leadership of Kesu Ninama, who serves as the district panchayat vice-president and notably is the grandmother of the affected student. The demonstrators staged a three-hour sit-in protest that completely blocked the road outside the school gate from 12 pm to 3 pm.

The protesting groups presented two primary demands to the authorities. They insisted on the registration of an FIR against the school principal and the concerned teacher allegedly involved in the case. Additionally, they urged the district education department to immediately cancel the school's recognition and affiliation with the education board.

Kesu Ninama made serious allegations against the school administration, stating that mental pressure had been systematically created on her grandson, ultimately pushing him toward this extreme step. She revealed that despite the boy bringing home numerous skating medals and achievements, the school never acknowledged his accomplishments with any appreciation letter and instead subjected him to what she described as torture.

Official Response and Investigation Committee

As news of the protest spread, multiple senior officials rushed to the scene to manage the escalating situation. Tehsildar Rishabh Thakur, Industrial Area police station in-charge Satyendra Raghuvanshi, and later CSP Satyendra Ghanghoria arrived with substantial police forces to pacify the angry protestors.

The education department also responded promptly, with District Education Officer Anita Sagar personally engaging with the family members and community leaders. However, she clarified that since the school is affiliated with CBSE, its recognition cannot be revoked immediately through local administrative action.

In a significant development, Anita Sagar announced the formation of a special investigation committee that will thoroughly examine the circumstances leading to the suicide attempt. The committee has been directed to submit its detailed report to the divisional office for further action.

The protestors have issued a clear warning that they will intensify their agitation on Monday if their demands remain unfulfilled. The situation remains tense as the community awaits concrete action from the authorities regarding this sensitive case involving student welfare and institutional accountability.
