UP Assistant Professor Recruitment Exam Conducted Across Six Cities with Enhanced Security
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) successfully conducted a crucial two-day recruitment examination for the post of assistant professor on Saturday. The examination was held across 53 centers in six major cities of Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, and Gorakhpur. The entire process was carried out under exceptionally tight security arrangements to ensure fairness and integrity.
Fire Incident in Lucknow Quickly Contained Without Disruption
An unexpected incident occurred at Government Girls Inter College in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, just before the commencement of the first examination shift on Saturday morning. Officials reported that a fire broke out in the air conditioning wiring located in the principal's office. The situation was immediately brought to the attention of the on-site nodal officer and the commission's appointed observer, Yogendra Nath Singh.
Through prompt administrative action, the fire was swiftly brought under control, preventing any significant damage or major disruption to the examination proceedings. As a precautionary measure, all candidates scheduled for that center were efficiently relocated to another wing of the school building. The examination subsequently proceeded smoothly and concluded without any further interruptions.
Authorities confirmed that no candidate, invigilator, or staff member sustained any injuries during the incident. The quick response demonstrated the effectiveness of the emergency protocols in place.
Multi-Layered Security and Surveillance System Implemented
UPESSC deployed an extensive, multi-layered system of surveillance and administrative control throughout the examination process. Commission Chairman Prashant Kumar personally reviewed all arrangements and emphasized that maintaining the sanctity and integrity of the examination remained the top priority for the commission.
As part of the comprehensive security protocol, mobile numbers of principals from all examination centers, along with selected officials, were placed under surveillance. Security agencies were put on high alert to monitor any suspicious activities or potential attempts at malpractice. Prohibitory orders remained in force around all examination centers, with district magistrates and senior police officers conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance.
Technological Innovations Enhance Examination Integrity
In a significant technological advancement, UPESSC introduced a computer-based system to randomly determine the question paper for each examination shift. This innovation completely eliminated any possibility of human interference in the paper selection process, ensuring greater transparency and fairness.
Additionally, candidate roll numbers were randomized through a systematic process to ensure that applicants from the same locality or with similar background details were not assigned to the same examination centers. This measure further strengthened the integrity of the recruitment process.
Prayagraj Pilot Project and Comprehensive Monitoring
In Prayagraj, the commission implemented a pilot project at select examination centers where OMR answer sheets were scanned immediately after each shift. This scanning occurred in the presence of both candidates and invigilators, with the scanned data securely stored for future verification against original answer sheets if required.
All examination halls and key premises were under continuous CCTV surveillance, with monitoring conducted from district control rooms as well as the commission's central command center. This comprehensive monitoring system provided real-time oversight of the entire examination process.
Examination Statistics and Re-examination Details
A total of 19,718 candidates appeared for the assistant professor recruitment examination. Women accounted for 41.35% of the total attendance, while men represented 58.65% of the candidates. The examination was conducted in four shifts over the two-day period.
Additionally, re-examination was conducted for 17 specific subjects, including Asian Culture, Music (Tabla), Physical Education, Urdu, English, Sociology, Chemistry, and Education, among others. This ensured that all candidates had equal opportunity to demonstrate their qualifications for the assistant professor positions.
