UP Board Launches Massive Evaluation Process for 2026 Exams Across Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has officially commenced the monumental task of evaluating answer sheets for the High School and Intermediate examinations of 2026. This extensive process began on Wednesday across 250 dedicated evaluation centers strategically located throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Unprecedented Scale of Assessment

This year's evaluation represents one of the most comprehensive academic assessment exercises in India, involving the meticulous checking of answer sheets from nearly 50 lakh students. In total, approximately 3 crore individual answer sheets are undergoing evaluation, highlighting the enormous scale of this annual educational undertaking.

The board has established a firm deadline of April 1 for the completion of the entire evaluation process, creating a tight timeline for the thousands of examiners involved in this critical academic exercise.

Prayagraj Division at the Forefront

Joint Director of Education, RN Vishwakarma, provided detailed insights into the distribution of evaluation centers, noting that 21 centers have been established specifically within the Prayagraj division. Prayagraj district itself hosts the highest concentration with 10 evaluation centers, followed by Fatehpur and Pratapgarh with five centers each, and Kaushambi with one dedicated facility.

On the inaugural day of evaluation, approximately 80% of assigned examiners reported for duty. Education officials have expressed confidence that full attendance will be achieved in the coming days as the evaluation process intensifies.

Stringent Security and Monitoring Protocols

District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) for Prayagraj, PN Singh, elaborated on the comprehensive security measures implemented to ensure the integrity of the evaluation process. "Around 12,24,788 answer sheets are being checked in Prayagraj district alone by over 6,000 qualified examiners," Singh stated.

To maintain absolute transparency and prevent any irregularities, the board has implemented multiple layers of security:

  • CCTV surveillance cameras have been installed at all evaluation centers
  • Complete prohibition of mobile phones within evaluation premises
  • Round-the-clock deployment of armed police personnel at every center
  • Strict prohibition of unauthorized entry; only approved teachers and staff engaged in evaluation are permitted access
  • Appointment of static magistrates by district administration to oversee operations at each center

Detailed instructions have been disseminated to all examiners to ensure consistency, accuracy, and uniformity in the marking process across all centers and subjects.

Technological Innovation in Evaluation

Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh announced a significant technological advancement in this year's evaluation process. "As part of a pilot initiative, we have introduced an online marks-uploading system alongside the conventional evaluation method in five key districts," Singh explained.

The districts selected for this digital pilot program include Prayagraj, Meerut, Bareilly, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur. This innovative approach aims to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate the compilation of final results, and introduce greater transparency throughout the evaluation system.

The combination of traditional evaluation methods with modern digital uploading represents a forward-looking step by the UP Board to streamline one of India's largest academic assessment processes while maintaining the rigorous standards expected of such a critical educational exercise.
