Stone-Pelting Clash at Allahabad University Hostel Disrupts Traffic, 25 Identified
Allahabad University Hostel Clash: 25 Students Identified

Chaos and violence disrupted the peace at Allahabad University on Friday afternoon following a major clash between two groups of hostel inmates. The incident, which involved stone-pelting, created panic in the area and brought traffic to a standstill for nearly an hour.

Violence Erupts Outside SSL Hostel

The confrontation began outside the Sir Sunder Lal (SSL) Hostel premises. According to sources, several inmates came out onto the SSL Hostel road and engaged in violent behaviour. This quickly escalated into a full-blown clash with the other group reportedly from Holland Hall. Both sides started pelting stones at each other, terrifying local shopkeepers and pedestrians.

Traffic Snarl and Administrative Crackdown

The violent altercation had immediate repercussions on the surrounding area. Traffic movement was severely disrupted as vehicles were forced to stop or find alternative routes. The situation remained chaotic until authorities managed to bring it under control.

Taking serious note of the incident, the university administration has swung into action. They have initiated disciplinary proceedings and directed the superintendent of SSL Hostel to identify those involved. CCTV footage from in and around the hostel is being scrutinised, leading to the identification of 25 hostel inmates so far. Their details are being sent to the chief proctor's office for further action.

Recurring Indiscipline Prompts Strict Measures

This clash has highlighted ongoing issues of indiscipline within university hostels. The administration expressed deep concern over such recurring incidents. In a related development, a surprise inspection conducted on the night of December 17 revealed further lapses. Officials found 38 rooms locked and 14 students absent from their allotted rooms during the check.

A separate report on these findings has been sought. The university has assured that strict action will be taken to maintain discipline and order on the campus, signalling a potential crackdown on rule violations.
