Allahabad University Uncovers Admission Scam: Graduates Re-Enrolled via Fake Documents
Allahabad University Uncovers Major Admission Scam

A serious breach in the admission process has been uncovered at the prestigious Allahabad University in Prayagraj. A recent investigation has exposed that numerous students, who secured admission through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), were already graduates and post-graduates of the same university.

Duplicate Documents and a Major Security Concern

The probe revealed a shocking pattern: these students submitted copies of the same Transfer Certificate (TC) from their old school that they had used for their initial admission years ago. This means they presented duplicate or spurious documents to gain entry into undergraduate courses again, despite already possessing higher qualifications from the institution.

Given the gravity of the situation, a high-level meeting was convened on Wednesday. The session was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sangita Srivastava and attended by key officials including Divisional Commissioner Saumya Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Joginder Kumar, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, along with senior district administration and university officials.

Probing for Organized Rackets and Broader Risks

The committee delved into whether this fraudulent activity was the work of an organized group, an outside agency, or a dedicated racket specializing in fake documents. A critical point of discussion was whether this intrusion into the admission system could pose a wider security threat to the campus and its community.

This concern was amplified by a prior letter from the Education Ministry. The letter had warned the university of a serious security threat and stressed the urgent need to fortify security protocols, admission procedures, and identity verification processes. The ministry cautioned that these systems could be targeted by dangerous elements aiming to cause disruption. The committee found this warning highly relevant in light of the current scam.

The investigation is also examining cases where individuals attempted to send impersonators to act on their behalf during the admission process. Authorities have assured that due legal action will be taken in all such instances.

Violation of Student Rights and Legal Consequences

University admission officials highlighted the dual injustice of such acts. Firstly, a person who has already completed graduation and post-graduation and seeks admission again creates an inequality of opportunity. They unfairly block access to higher education facilities and seats that rightfully belong to other deserving candidates. Secondly, it is a direct violation of the rights of those genuine students who are deprived of these educational resources.

It was clearly pointed out in the meeting that such actions constitute serious crimes under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The offenses include:

  • Using spurious documents.
  • Concealing educational qualifications to gain undue benefits.
  • Misusing public certificates.

All these are liable for strict punishment. The university administration has emphasized its zero-tolerance stance. Strict action will be taken against anyone found involved, whether they are students or external elements, to uphold the sanctity, discipline, and peace on the university campus.
