Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University Prepares for Grand 42nd Convocation Ceremony
The Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University is set to host a momentous 42nd convocation ceremony on Monday, where an impressive total of 42,317 students will receive their hard-earned degrees. The event, to be held on the university campus, will feature former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande (Retd) as the distinguished chief guest, who will deliver the convocation address to inspire the graduating class.
University Leadership and Distinguished Guests to Grace the Occasion
Vice Chancellor Milind Barhate will preside over the convocation proceedings, ensuring the ceremony runs smoothly. Pro Vice-Chancellor Mahendra Dhore has been appointed as the guest of honour, adding to the prestige of the event. In a media briefing held on Saturday, Barhate highlighted a remarkable achievement: 80% of the 168 awards will be presented to female students, underscoring their academic excellence and dedication.
Top Performers and Award Winners Recognized
Among the standout achievers, Nikita Kishor Punse from Nehru College, Ner Parsopant, has emerged as the top performer, securing an impressive six gold medals along with one cash prize. Other notable awardees include Pallavi Rathod from Washim, who earned five gold medals, and Tejaswini Bhagat from Shegaon and Saishwari Indurkar from Amravati, each winning four gold medals. These students exemplify the high academic standards fostered by the university.
Comprehensive Degree Distribution Across Disciplines
The convocation will see a wide-ranging distribution of degrees across various faculties, reflecting the university's diverse academic offerings. A total of 17,155 degrees will be awarded in the Science & Technology faculty, followed by 10,787 in Humanities, 7,913 in Commerce & Management, and 4,433 in Interdisciplinary Studies. Additionally, the university will confer the prestigious 'Acharya' (PhD) degree to 466 researchers, acknowledging their contributions to advanced scholarship, and postgraduate diplomas to 255 students.
Inclusion of Autonomous Institutions and University Officials
Extending its reach, the convocation will also honor students from five autonomous institutions, including engineering colleges and the Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities. This inclusion highlights the university's collaborative efforts in promoting higher education across the region. Key university officials, including Registrar Avinash Asanare and Director of the Board of Examination and Evaluation Nitin Koli, were present at the press briefing, emphasizing the meticulous planning and organization behind this significant event.
