Agricultural students must embrace cutting-edge technologies and research advancements to drive India's prosperity, declared Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) chairman Sanjay Kumar Singh during a significant orientation event in Bihar.
Orientation Program Inauguration
Sanjay Kumar Singh inaugurated the 21-day 'Deeksharambh' orientation program for newly admitted students of the 2025-26 academic session at Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) in Pusa, Samastipur. The Monday event marked a crucial beginning for aspiring agricultural professionals.
The ASRB chairman emphasized the university's distinguished legacy while challenging students to uphold its reputation through academic excellence and innovation. "Students must familiarize themselves with the latest technologies and research advancements in agriculture and contribute meaningfully to the country's prosperity," Singh asserted during his address.
RPCAU's Pioneering Role in Agricultural Innovation
Singh specifically highlighted RPCAU's leadership position in two transformative agricultural domains: digital agriculture and natural farming. The university has been at the forefront of integrating technology with traditional farming practices, creating new pathways for sustainable agricultural development.
The chairman expressed appreciation for the university's initiative in launching the 'Deeksharambh' program, which has since been adopted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the University Grants Commission. This program is now implemented across universities nationwide, demonstrating RPCAU's influence on national agricultural education policy.

RPCAU Vice-Chancellor P S Pandey detailed the institution's inclusive governance model, revealing that students and local farmers participate in all decision-making bodies. This collaborative approach ensures that classroom and field activities reflect the practical needs and perspectives of those directly involved in agriculture.
"The university involves its students and local farmers in all its decision-making bodies and prioritizes their views in the smooth conduct of classroom and field activities," Pandey explained. He also announced recent amendments to university rules and regulations implemented to better serve student interests.
Highlighting the institution's strong placement record, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to maintain academic focus while assuring them of ample job opportunities upon graduation. The assurance comes as welcome news to students entering the agricultural sector during a period of significant technological transformation.
The event saw participation from key university officials including Director of the School of Agri-Business and Rural Management Ramdatt, who welcomed participants and outlined the orientation program's structure. Deans, faculty members and officials including Mayank Rai, Amaresh Chandra, P Srivastava and Kumar Rajyavardhan attended the ceremony, demonstrating institutional commitment to student success.
