Berhampur University Forges Strategic Alliance with National Library, Kolkata
In a significant move to bolster academic and research initiatives, Berhampur University has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Library in Kolkata. This partnership, formalized on Monday, aims to enhance training, research, and educational opportunities for students and faculty members.
Key Signatories and Objectives of the Agreement
The MoU was signed by Sachidanand Nayak, the Registrar of Berhampur University, and Partha Sarathi Das, representing the National Library, which operates under the Ministry of Culture. This collaboration is set to span an initial tenure of five years, as confirmed by university sources.
The primary goals of this agreement include:
- Encouraging teaching and learning among qualified postgraduate and undergraduate students.
- Promoting collaborative research in areas of mutual interest between the two institutions.
- Facilitating focused academic engagement on the unique special collections housed at the National Library, many of which remain under-explored.
- Developing short-term academic and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

According to Geetanjali Dash, the Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University, students from the Library and Information Science department, along with those from other disciplines, will significantly benefit from this partnership.
