The team from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has emerged as the national champion at the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) National Moot Court Competition 2026. The prestigious event was hosted by Integral University in Lucknow, drawing significant attention from the legal academic community across India.
Prize Distribution and Runner-Up Recognition
As the winning team, BHU was awarded a substantial cash prize of Rs 25,000, along with commemorative trophies and medals to honor their outstanding performance. Chandigarh University secured the highly respected runner-up position, receiving a cash award of Rs 11,000 for their commendable efforts in the competition.
Special Awards and Individual Accolades
The competition also featured several special awards recognizing excellence in various categories. Ram Manohar Lohia University was honored with the Best Researcher award, while the Army Institute of Law secured the Best Memorial recognition.
In the individual category, Mallika Chadha from Lovely Professional University was celebrated as the Best Speaker, showcasing exceptional advocacy skills. Aligarh Muslim University received recognition for inspiring excellence throughout the competition.
Furthermore, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Lucknow University were both acknowledged as the best regional teams, highlighting their strong representation and performance.

The AIU National Moot Court Competition 2026 was held from April 9 to April 11, bringing together an impressive 40 teams from universities across India. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds took place on April 10, setting the stage for intense legal debates and rigorous evaluation.
A cultural evening on April 10 featured enchanting ghazal performances by renowned artist Shailly Kapoor, providing a refreshing break from the competitive atmosphere and adding a cultural dimension to the academic event.

Varun Chhachhar, a professor at Lucknow University who served as a judge at the competition, emphasized the crucial role of moot court events in legal education.
