The Road Ahead: IIM Admission Process Begins

The declaration of results marks the beginning of the next critical phase: the admission process for the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other participating B-schools. It is important for candidates to understand that a high CAT percentile is just the first step.

IIMs employ a holistic selection criteria that goes beyond the CAT score. The subsequent stages typically include Group Discussions (GD), Written Ability Tests (WAT), and Personal Interviews (PI). In these rounds, candidates are evaluated on parameters such as communication skills, leadership qualities, problem-solving approach, and clarity of thought.

Furthermore, IIMs also consider a candidate's past academic performance in Class 10, Class 12, and graduation. Work experience and gender diversity are other significant factors that contribute to the final selection. Each IIM has its own specific weightage for these components, and candidates must check the individual admission policies of the institutes they have applied to.

The CAT 2025 exam was conducted on November 30, 2025. Out of the total 2.95 lakh candidates who registered, approximately 2.58 lakh took the test. With the results now public, the focus shifts to the intensive preparation for the subsequent rounds of the MBA admission cycle for the academic year 2026-28.
