The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has announced a powerful commencement to its 2026 placement season, which typically spans from January to April. University officials have confirmed that approximately 500 students have already secured job offers, marking a significant early achievement.
Recruiter Participation and Salary Packages Show Positive Trends
According to the latest reports, around 70 recruiters have visited the Cusat campus so far during this placement cycle. Among these, an impressive 10 companies have offered annual salary packages exceeding Rs 10 lakh. The highest compensation package recorded this season stands at a remarkable Rs 43 lakh per annum, while the average salary package across all offers is Rs 6.55 lakh per year.
Chief Placement Officer Deepa Balakrishnan highlighted that the season has seen increased participation from new recruiters, particularly in computer science and related branches. This trend indicates expanding opportunities not just in traditional engineering fields, but across a broader spectrum of disciplines including technology, management, and applied sciences.
Diverse Roles Reflect Industry Evolution and Growing Confidence
Balakrishnan further emphasized that the diversity of roles offered this year mirrors evolving industry requirements and demonstrates growing corporate confidence in Cusat graduates. The university expects these positive trends to continue as many placement results are still awaited, with officials anticipating overall numbers to rise further in the coming weeks.
Make-A-Ton 8.0 Hackathon Showcases Student Innovation
In related campus activity, Cusat recently hosted the eighth edition of Make-A-Ton 8.0, a student-organized hackathon conducted jointly by students and the university's incubation center, CITTIC. Vice-Chancellor M. Junaid Bushiri inaugurated the event at the Seminar Complex on Saturday.
The hackathon attracted substantial interest with over 1,900 registrations, from which more than 100 participants were shortlisted. These students worked on developing software and hardware solutions to real-world challenges, competing for prizes exceeding Rs 90,000. This event underscores Cusat's commitment to fostering practical skills and innovation alongside academic excellence.
As the placement season progresses, Cusat continues to strengthen its position as a premier institution for technical education in India, with its graduates increasingly sought after by leading national and international companies across multiple sectors.
