Devi Ahilya University Seeks Central Homoeopathy Research Centre on Campus
In a significant move to bolster academic and healthcare initiatives, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in Indore has formally written to the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) to establish a Central Homoeopathy Research Centre on its campus. The university has initiated the process for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize this collaboration, marking a pivotal step in integrating alternative medicine into higher education.
Infrastructure and Location Finalized
The proposed centre will be developed at the university's Takshashila campus on Khandwa Road, where six rooms have been earmarked for its operations. University authorities have confirmed that along with the necessary infrastructure, essential staff and support services will be provided to ensure smooth functioning. This allocation of space resolves a key delay, as the project, approved nearly one-and-a-half years ago, was previously hindered by the lack of a designated building.
Academic and Practical Benefits for Students
Officials emphasized that this initiative will significantly strengthen the academic exposure of students interested in alternative medicine. It will allow them to observe and engage with real-time diagnosis and treatment practices, offering a hands-on learning experience. The centre is expected to provide facilities for research, consultation, and therapy, transforming it into a practical learning hub within the campus environment.
Healthcare Outreach and Community Impact
Beyond benefiting students, the centre is also anticipated to serve patients from Indore and nearby districts, including Khandwa, Dhar, Barwani, Burhanpur, and Ratlam. Plans are in place to develop specialized facilities for research and treatment of complex conditions, such as sickle cell anaemia, thereby enhancing healthcare accessibility in the region.
University Registrar Prafull Khare stated that all necessary preparations have been completed, and the institution is ready to extend full support. Authorities believe the centre will not only strengthen academic and healthcare outreach but also offer students invaluable practical exposure within the university itself, fostering a holistic approach to education and wellness.
