In a significant stride toward global academic integration, Dibrugarh University has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam's University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM (UIT). This partnership, established on November 26, marks a pivotal moment in the institution's internationalization journey.
Strengthening International Academic Bonds
The formal signing ceremony witnessed Dr. Nomi Baruah, head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Dibrugarh University, representing the Indian institution. This collaboration creates direct pathways for students and faculty members to engage with one of Southeast Asia's leading technological universities.
Operating under the PM-USHA (MERU) initiative, this agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for academic cooperation. The partnership specifically focuses on three core areas: student exchange programs, collaborative research projects, and shared innovation initiatives in computer science and related disciplines.
Vision for Global Education Excellence
Dibrugarh University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika expressed immense enthusiasm about this international collaboration. "This MoU with UIT represents a landmark achievement for our institution," he stated. "It perfectly aligns with our vision under the PM-USHA scheme to transform into a multidisciplinary education and research hub of global standing."
The Vice-Chancellor further emphasized that this partnership will unlock numerous opportunities for both students and researchers, providing them exposure to international academic practices and cutting-edge developments in computer science. The collaboration gains additional significance as it falls under Dibrugarh University's recent designation as a Multidisciplinary Education and Research University (MERU).
Substantial Government Backing
This international initiative receives strong governmental support through the PM-USHA scheme. In February 2024, Dibrugarh University was selected under this program and received a substantial grant of Rs 100 crore to enhance its educational and research infrastructure.
The funding aims to elevate the university's capabilities across various disciplines, with this international partnership serving as a crucial component of its broader development strategy. The collaboration with UIT Vietnam represents a concrete step toward realizing the institution's ambition of becoming a world-class educational destination.
This partnership not only strengthens academic ties between India and Vietnam but also positions Dibrugarh University as an emerging global player in higher education, particularly in the field of computer science and technology.
