Diksha Makkar, a dedicated PhD research scholar in the Department of Public Administration at Panjab University in Chandigarh, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing All India Rank 1 in the UGC-NET examination. Her remarkable accomplishment includes a perfect 100 percentile score in the public administration subject, marking the culmination of three years of rigorous preparation and five determined attempts.

Hailing from Ambala, Diksha emphasized that this achievement was far from easy. She attributed her success to a clear and disciplined strategy that involved weekly and monthly practice sessions coupled with consistent revision. "Students must establish a routine, remain unwavering in their consistency, and keep their goals crystal clear," she advised, highlighting the importance of structured preparation.

Diksha's academic journey is deeply rooted in her educational background. She completed her BA (Honours) from PG Government College for Girls before pursuing a Master’s degree from Panjab University, where she is currently advancing her studies through a PhD program.

Family Support and Academic Guidance

The scholar generously credited her parents, friends, and teachers for their unwavering support throughout her challenging phases. Her father, Rakesh, is a businessman engaged in social work, while her mother, Shikha, assists in the family business. Her brother, Vineesh, operates a startup in Bengaluru, showcasing a family environment that values both enterprise and education.

In terms of academic mentorship, Diksha acknowledged the significant contributions of her research supervisor, Dr. Bharti Garg, and mentioned receiving online coaching from Begi Ram based in Himachal Pradesh. This blend of institutional guidance and external coaching played a pivotal role in her success.

Beyond Academics: A Multifaceted Personality

Diksha Makkar is not only an academic achiever but also a person of diverse talents and social commitment. An accomplished Kathak artist, she began her dance training under guru Anju Miglani and has since been associated with teaching nearly 1,000 children. Her philanthropic spirit was evident from a young age when, along with her family, she organized a charity dance show that raised approximately ₹1 lakh for cancer patients and differently-abled children.

Additionally, she serves as a member of the District Child Welfare Council, reflecting her dedication to social causes. Balancing her passions with her studies, Diksha firmly believes that while it is important to nurture one's interests, education should never be compromised.

Looking ahead, Diksha aspires to become an IAS officer and plans to appear for the UPSC examination, aiming to contribute further to public service.
