Ludhiana's Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu) has powerfully reinforced its position as a national leader in veterinary public health. The university's Centre for One Health achieved a remarkable clean sweep at the recent IAVPHS-2025 international symposium and XXI annual conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists.
Award-Winning Excellence Across the Board
The university's delegation showcased exceptional talent, securing a total of three best oral presentation awards and seven best poster awards across various thematic areas of the conference. In a significant individual achievement, PhD scholar Dr Iqra Arif was honored with the prestigious best thesis award. Adding to the creative accolades, postgraduate student Dr Jayesh received recognition for designing the best logo for the Centre for One Health.
Top Honors for Faculty and Leadership
The faculty members also brought immense pride to the institution. Dr J S Bedi, the Director of the Centre for One Health, was conferred the distinguished Dr A T Sherikar Outstanding Public Health Veterinarian Award. Dr Simranpreet Kaur was honored with the Dr R K Aggarwal Food Safety Award. In a crowning achievement, Vice-Chancellor Dr J P S Gill received the lifetime achievement award for his monumental contributions to the field of veterinary public health.
Strategic Leadership on the National Stage
Beyond the awards, Gadvasu secured formidable representation in the governing body of the association. The university's leadership was elected to key positions on the IAVPHS Executive Committee. Dr J P S Gill was elected as the President, with Dr J S Bedi taking up the role of Vice-President. Furthermore, Dr Simranpreet Kaur and Dr Deepali Kalambhe were elected as members of the committee.
