Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Unveils New Postgraduate Program in Robotics and AI
In a significant move to address the growing technological needs of the nation, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has officially announced the launch of a new postgraduate program in robotics and artificial intelligence. This innovative course is set to commence in the upcoming academic session of 2026-27, marking a pivotal step in advancing India's expertise in these cutting-edge fields.
Program Overview and Objectives
The new program will be offered by the University School of Information, Communication, and Technology (USICT). It has been specifically designed to fulfill the escalating demand for skilled professionals in robotics and artificial intelligence across various sectors. With a total intake of 21 seats, admissions will be open until March 31, 2026, aligning with the university's standard admission timelines for all programs.
According to Prof. Pushpender Bharti of USICT, the demand for robotics and AI in India is expanding steadily, driven by their increasing scope in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and technology. He emphasized that the need for roles like AI engineers, data scientists, and robotics engineers continues to rise, offering employment opportunities in both established organizations and emerging startups. Furthermore, this field is poised to make substantial contributions to economic development through technology-based innovations.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
To be eligible for this program, candidates must meet specific academic requirements. Students need to secure a minimum of 60 percent marks in their qualifying examinations. The program is open to graduates from disciplines including:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Electronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
Additionally, candidates with postgraduate degrees in subjects such as IT, electronics, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, operation research, and applied physics are also eligible to apply.
Admission Process and Selection Methodology
Admissions to the robotics and AI program will be based on a merit list prepared from valid GATE scores in relevant disciplines for the 2026-27 academic session. In cases where seats remain unfilled after considering GATE-qualified candidates, admissions will proceed to those who have qualified through the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the university.
If seats are still available after the CET merit list is exhausted, the remaining vacancies will be filled from the merit list of candidates qualified through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). For comprehensive details on the program structure and admission procedures, prospective students are encouraged to visit the official website of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
This initiative underscores GGSIPU's commitment to fostering advanced education and skill development in high-demand technological areas, positioning students for successful careers in the evolving global landscape.
