Visakhapatnam is set to become the epicenter of a major scientific gathering as GITAM Deemed to be University prepares to host the 13th international conference of the Laboratory Animal Scientists Association (LASA), India. The prestigious event is scheduled for December 19 and 20, promising to draw a global audience of experts.
Conference Theme and Leadership
The conference will revolve around the critical theme of "preclinical insights from animal studies on drug discovery and translational research." Announcing the details to the media, Dr. Vijaya Pal Singh, LASA National President and Scientist at CSIR-IGIB in Delhi, emphasized the event's significance. He was joined by key figures including Dr. J. Mahesh Kumar (Vice-President), Dr. R.K. Shakthi Devan (Secretary), Prof. L. Srinivas (Conference Chairman), and conveners Dr. Nemani Hari Shankar and Dr. Nitin Yadav, with Dr. G. Suhasin serving as the Organising Secretary.
Dr. Singh highlighted that LASA has grown into India's largest organization for laboratory animal science professionals, boasting an impressive membership of over 1,300 life members. He stated that the conference will act as a vital platform for sharing advanced methodologies, exploring new scientific developments, and discussing crucial insights that are shaping the future of drug discovery and development.
Focus Areas and Global Participation
The agenda for the international conference is comprehensive, with a sharp focus on key areas such as laboratory animal health, welfare, ethics, and regulatory frameworks. It will also showcase the latest advancements in experimental laboratory animal science.
The organizing committee has announced an expected participation of over 600 registered delegates and 100 volunteers. The event will feature renowned national and international speakers from prestigious institutions in the UK, USA, Singapore, Italy, and Thailand. Adding to the event's prestige, scientists from premier Indian bodies like the ICMR, ICAR, CSIR, DBT, IISER, and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry & Dairying will also be in attendance.
