Goa University Commences Admissions for 2026-27 Academic Year with GU-ART Schedule
Panaji-based Goa University has officially initiated the admission process for the upcoming academic year 2026-27. The university has released the detailed schedule for the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART), which serves as the gateway for admission to various post-graduate and Bachelor of Education (BEd) programmes offered at the varsity and its affiliated colleges.
Application Timeline and Portal Details
Prospective students can submit their applications for the GU-ART through the dedicated Goa University Samarth admissions web portal. The application window will remain open until 5:00 PM on February 18, 2026. This online system streamlines the admission process, making it accessible and efficient for candidates across the region.
GU-ART Examination Schedule and Eligibility Criteria
The university has outlined a comprehensive examination schedule for the GU-ART. Round-I of the test is scheduled to be conducted on March 7, 8, 14, 15, and 22, 2026. Additionally, a change of discipline test is tentatively planned for February 25 and 26, 2026.
In a significant update, Goa University has clarified that final year undergraduate students are eligible to apply for these programmes. They will be granted provisional admission, contingent upon fulfilling all eligibility requirements as specified by the university. The admissions of these candidates will be confirmed only after they successfully clear their final undergraduate examinations.
Examination Pattern and Marking Scheme
The GU-ART is designed as a single paper comprising 100 marks. The test consists of 50 objective multiple-choice questions, each carrying two marks. To maintain fairness and accuracy, the marking scheme includes a negative marking provision: half a mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. However, no marks are deducted for questions left unanswered. Candidates will have a total of 90 minutes to complete the examination.
Seat Allotment and Ranking Process
Following the test, students will be ranked based on their performance in the GU-ART. These rankings play a crucial role in the seat allotment process, determining programme and college assignments for successful candidates.
The university has also indicated that additional GU-ART rounds may be conducted if seats remain vacant in specific subject programmes after the initial allotment. Candidates participating in these subsequent rounds will be ranked after those from the previous round, ensuring a systematic and transparent admission procedure.
This announcement marks a key milestone for higher education aspirants in Goa, providing clear guidelines and timelines for securing admission to prestigious post-graduate and BEd programmes at Goa University and its affiliated institutions.
