Gujarat Vidyapith Unveils Comprehensive Admission Plan for 2026 Academic Year
In a significant development for higher education in Gujarat, Gujarat Vidyapith has officially announced its admission schedule for the academic year 2026. The institution will offer a total of 1,246 seats across a diverse range of programs, marking a key milestone in its educational offerings.
Approval and Leadership
The admission plan was formally approved during a joint meeting of the Academic Council and Executive Council. The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Harshad Patel, underscoring the institutional commitment to expanding access to quality education.
Program Breakdown and Application Details
Admissions will be conducted for an extensive array of programs, including:
- Eight undergraduate programs
- Three postgraduate programs
- 20 postgraduate diploma programs
- One diploma program
- PhD programs across 16 subjects
The online application process is set to commence on March 22, 2026, and will continue until May 8, 2026. This provides prospective students with a substantial window to submit their applications.
Eligibility and Entrance Requirements
According to Admission Committee Coordinator Prof Ajay Parikh, candidates applying for all programs except PhD must qualify through one of two pathways:
- CUET (UG/PG): The Common University Entrance Test
- GEETA: The Gujarat Vidyapith Eligibility and Efficacy Test for Admission
The GEETA test will be held on May 10, 2026, at 28 centers across Gujarat. The exam will consist of 60 questions to be completed within 90 minutes, covering key areas such as general knowledge, language proficiency, reasoning skills, and Gandhian studies.
Post-Test Schedule and Academic Timeline
Following the entrance test, the admission process will proceed with counseling sessions scheduled for May 12-13, 2026. For PhD applicants, interviews are specifically set for May 14, 2026. The academic session for all admitted students is slated to begin on July 1, 2026, ensuring a smooth transition into the new academic year.
