IIM Indore Celebrates Student and Alumni Excellence in Pre-Convocation Ceremony

The Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) commenced its pre-convocation festivities on Friday, setting the stage for the main graduation ceremony scheduled for Saturday. This special event served as a platform to honor outstanding students and distinguished alumni for their remarkable academic accomplishments and significant professional contributions across various sectors.

Recognizing Academic and Leadership Excellence

The ceremony brought together faculty members, alumni, and graduating participants in a gathering that highlighted the institute's commitment to fostering excellence. Director Himanshu Rai personally felicitated student committee coordinators and presented certificates to top-performing students who secured the highest academic positions across multiple programmes. The pre-convocation ceremony is a meaningful occasion for us to recognise the dedication, leadership and achievements of our students and alumni, Rai emphasized. Their commitment to excellence and contribution to the institute's ecosystem make us immensely proud.

Alumni Awards 2025: Celebrating Professional Impact

During the event, IIM Indore announced the prestigious Alumni Awards 2025, recognizing graduates who have made substantial impacts in their respective fields:

  • Rahul Razdan from the inaugural PGP batch (1998-2000) received recognition for strengthening global alumni engagement and his influential work in digital media and gaming ecosystems.
  • Gunajit Brahma, a dedicated social entrepreneur, earned the entrepreneur award for building ventures that promote climate action and sustainable agribusiness while connecting small farmers to international markets.
  • Chetan Rai, an alumnus serving in the chief minister's office in Gujarat, was honored for his significant contributions to governance and policy initiatives.
  • Ity Jain, working in strategic partnerships at Google India, was recognized for her crucial role in supporting startups and fostering technology partnerships.
  • Kunal Purohit, president at Tech Mahindra, received accolades for his leadership in emerging technology businesses.
  • Akila Moorthy, director of strategy, operations and analytics for Google Payments in California, was honored for her impactful work in global digital financial ecosystems.

Looking Ahead to the Main Convocation

The institute will formally confer degrees on participants from eight academic programmes during its 27th convocation on March 28. This year's graduation ceremony is expected to see more than 790 participants receiving their degrees. BCG India chairman Janmejaya Sinha will attend as chief guest and deliver an address to the graduating cohort. The pre-convocation celebrations were further enriched by a captivating cultural performance from the Prince Dance Group, adding artistic flair to the academic recognition event.
