IIT Kanpur Achieves Guinness World Record for Largest Electric Bicycle Delivery
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has secured a prestigious place in the Guinness World Records, being co-featured for orchestrating the largest electric bicycle delivery event. This remarkable achievement was realized through a collaborative e-cycle program involving multiple partners, including EMotorad, the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), the district collectorate of Chittoor, and the government of Andhra Pradesh.
Record-Setting Event in Kuppam Constituency
The groundbreaking delivery event was meticulously organized by the Andhra Pradesh government via the Kuppam Area Development Authority. During the ceremony, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu proudly presented the official Guinness World Records certificate, highlighting the state's commitment to innovative and eco-friendly initiatives.
The primary objective of this initiative was to champion sustainable, low-carbon local mobility within the Kuppam constituency. IIT Kanpur played a pivotal role as the technical partner through its Kuppam Net Zero Constituency Project, offering crucial expertise and guidance to ensure the program's successful execution.
Key Contributors and Coordination
Two distinguished IIT Kanpur alumni were instrumental in coordinating and supporting this landmark initiative. Hari Shankar, serving as a consultant to the Kuppam Net Zero Constituency Project, and Vikas Marmat (IAS), the project director of the Kuppam Area Development Authority, provided essential leadership and oversight.
The Institute's representation at the event was led by the project's principal investigators, Prof Manoj K Tiwari and Prof Rajeev Jindal, who have been at the forefront of driving sustainability efforts.
