IIT Patna Students Secure 19 Google Job Offers in 2026 Placements
Patna witnessed a remarkable achievement in campus placements this week. As many as nineteen students from the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna have received job offers from the global software giant Google. This exciting development marks a significant highlight of the ongoing 2026 placement season.
High-Value Packages and International Opportunities
Among these successful candidates, at least two students have secured annual compensation packages worth an impressive ₹1.17 crore each. This figure represents one of the highest salary offers reported from the institute this season.
The placement success extends beyond domestic opportunities. Four students have also landed international job placements in Japan, showcasing the global demand for IIT Patna talent.
Registrar Shares Comprehensive Placement Details
IIT-P registrar A K Thakur provided detailed insights into the current placement scenario. He revealed that students have secured a total of 319 job offers so far this year. These offers come from more than ninety different companies actively recruiting from the campus.
"Apart from Google, several other prominent companies have made substantial offers," Thakur explained. "HCL Tech extended twenty-seven full-time offers, BPCL made eighteen, and BEL provided ten. Many other firms have also given offers in double digits."
Consistent Growth in Placement Outcomes
The registrar emphasized the institute's strong track record in placements. He noted that IIT Patna has demonstrated consistent growth in both job placements and internship outcomes over recent years.
"For the last four consecutive academic sessions, our students have secured more than four hundred job offers each year," Thakur stated with evident pride. He shared specific data from the recently concluded 2025 placement session, where students received 582 job offers from over 215 companies.
This diverse pool of recruiters included public sector undertakings, innovative startups, and established multinational corporations.
Upward Trends Across Multiple Parameters
Thakur highlighted several positive trends in the institute's placement performance. He pointed to a steady increase in the number of recruiting companies visiting the campus. The quantity of job offers has shown consistent growth as well.
"We have witnessed improvements in average compensation packages for both BTech and MTech students," he noted. "There is also greater diversity in the job profiles being offered to our graduates."
The placement statistics reveal impressive completion rates. Several academic programs achieved perfect 100% placement records. Undergraduate programs maintained strong placement rates of 91.06% in 2023, 90.03% in 2024, and 89.01% in 2025.
Current Placement Season Progress
The registrar provided an update on the ongoing 2026 placement activities. "Phase one of the placement season for BTech, BS, and MTech programs has been successfully completed," he announced.
Thakur explained that the recruitment process for the 2025–26 academic year is currently at its midpoint and progressing according to schedule. "The BTech placement rate currently stands at 54.34%," he reported, adding that phase two of placements will resume in mid-January 2026.
Significant Salary Increases Reported
Kripa Shankar Singh, the training and placement officer at IIT Patna, shared encouraging salary data. He revealed that the average cost to company for the BTech 2026 batch crossed ₹26 lakh per annum during phase one.
"This represents a substantial 17.66% increase compared to the previous session," Singh emphasized. He provided similar positive news for MTech students, noting that their average CTC exceeded ₹16 lakh per annum, marking a 7.32% rise.
Several academic departments recorded gains in both average and median salary figures. The BTech computer science and engineering department reported the highest average package among all programs.
Diverse Recruiter Participation
This placement season attracted participation from numerous leading companies across various sectors. Top recruiters included technology giants like Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Cisco, and Samsung.
Other prominent companies making offers were BEL, BPCL, C-DOT, Optum, L&T, Reliance, Goldman Sachs, Sprinklr, Media.net, and Tata Advanced Systems. The season also saw increased hiring from core engineering sectors and public sector undertakings.
Manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and automobile companies showed particularly strong recruitment interest, reflecting broader industry trends and opportunities for engineering graduates.
