JJP Alleges MDU Rohtak NAAC Rating Scam, Puts 1.5 Lakh Students' Future at Risk
JJP Accuses MDU Rohtak of Fake NAAC Rating

A political delegation from the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has approached the Haryana Governor, alleging a serious academic fraud at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak that threatens the future of over 1.5 lakh students. The party has demanded immediate intervention and a high-level investigation.

Delegation Meets Governor, Submits Memorandum

Led by former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, the JJP delegation met with Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh. The leaders submitted a detailed memorandum outlining their allegations against the university administration and pressed for the formation of a high-level committee to probe the matter. They also demanded strict legal action against all officials found responsible.

The Core Allegation: Expired and Falsified NAAC Rating

Dushyant Chautala, sharing details of the complaint, stated that the validity of MDU's NAAC A+ ranking expired in March 2024. Despite this lapse, the university allegedly continued to admit new students by falsely promoting its expired A+ grade. Shockingly, the administration is also accused of issuing degree certificates and marksheets bearing the A+ rating to students from two batches after the rating had lapsed.

"The future of more than 1.5 lakh students is under a question mark today because of MDU's irresponsible attitude," Chautala asserted. He claimed that even now, the university's official communications and website wrongly display the NAAC A+ rating.

VC's Role and Attempt to Hide Failure

The JJP leader pointed a direct finger at the university's Vice-Chancellor, noting that the VC also heads the internal NAAC rating committee. "It was his primary responsibility to ensure the NAAC ranking was updated before it expired," Chautala said. He alleged that the VC deliberately avoided the re-accreditation process, fearing a potential downgrade in the rating.

Furthermore, Chautala accused the university of now trying to obscure the rating process entirely under the guise of a new scheme to hide its failure. The scam reportedly came to light after the NAAC body itself wrote a letter to MDU, exposing the use of the invalid rating.

Warning of Legal Action and Student Agitation

The former deputy CM made it clear that the JJP would escalate the issue if the state government fails to act promptly. "If the govt still does not take any action, then JJP will not sit quietly," he warned. He announced that the JJP, along with its student wing, the Indian National Student Organisation (INSO), is prepared to pursue legal recourse.

"We will move towards legal action, and will take recourse to law. If needed, the doors of the high court will also be knocked," Dushyant Chautala declared, signaling a potential courtroom battle over the alleged academic misconduct that has put the careers of lakhs of youth in jeopardy.
