Union Minister JP Nadda and Uttarakhand CM Dhami Grace SRHU Convocation in Dehradun
In a significant academic event in Dehradun, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 8th convocation of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) on Saturday. Nadda served as the chief guest, while Dhami was the guest of honour, highlighting the importance of higher education and youth empowerment in the region.
Nadda Emphasizes Youth's Role in India's Development During Amrit Kaal
During the ceremony, which saw 1,001 students receiving degrees across various faculties, JP Nadda delivered an inspiring address. He stated that this convocation represents "not just an academic milestone, but the beginning of a new journey in life." Nadda emphasized that a degree carries a profound responsibility towards human development and society. He highlighted the critical role of today's youth in the upcoming 25 years of Amrit Kaal, describing it as decisive for creating a developed India. "The next 25 years of Amrit kaal will be decisive years for the creation of a developed India, in which today's youth will not only be witnesses but also actors," Nadda remarked, urging graduates to actively contribute to national progress.
Dhami Calls on Students to Utilize Skills for Nation-Building
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in his speech, praised the state's youth as its greatest strength. He encouraged the students to leverage their knowledge, skills, and sensitivity in nation-building efforts. Dhami stressed that their actions should "clearly reflect compassion, humanity, and service," aligning with ethical values and societal welfare. His address focused on empowering the younger generation to drive positive change in Uttarakhand and beyond.
SRHU President Highlights Education as a Tool for Transformation
SRHU President Vijay Dhasmana shared his perspective on education, describing it as "not just a degree, but a medium for self-realisation, empowerment, and transformation." He outlined the institution's primary focus on providing better health facilities through human service and ethics, reinforcing SRHU's commitment to holistic development and community impact.
Academic Achievements and New Initiatives at the Convocation
The convocation celebrated numerous academic accomplishments, with degrees conferred to students from diverse faculties, including:
- Medicine
- Allied Health
- Nursing
- Management
- Engineering
- Yoga Sciences
- Biosciences
In addition, 31 students were honoured with academic awards, two received the prestigious Swami Rama Best Graduate Award, and 14 researchers were awarded PhD degrees. A notable highlight of the event was the launch of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), aimed at expanding educational access and flexibility for learners. This initiative underscores SRHU's adaptation to modern educational trends and its dedication to inclusive learning opportunities.
