The first semester examinations at Lucknow University (LU) have been disrupted by significant administrative lapses, causing widespread frustration and anxiety among students across multiple centres. The series of logistical failures has cast a shadow over the ongoing assessment process.
Delays and Shortages Mar Key Papers
At the computer science department located on the second campus, a mathematics paper arrived nearly an hour behind schedule, forcing anxious candidates to wait idly. In a separate incident at the English and modern European languages department, students sitting for the Advanced Economic Analysis paper faced an unexpected hurdle: a severe shortage of answer sheets.
Candidates reportedly had to wait for approximately 30 minutes while officials scrambled to arrange the necessary answer booklets. This delay added to the examination pressure, disrupting the planned schedule and the students' focus.
University Response and Compensatory Measures
Addressing the concerns, LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava stated that the university took steps to mitigate the unfair disadvantage caused to students. "To ensure that students are not unfairly disadvantaged, extra time was provided so they could complete their exams without pressure," Srivastava explained. This measure was intended to compensate for the lost time due to the university's logistical failures.
Confusion Over NCC General Paper
Adding to the disarray, pre-exam confusion has plagued the NCC General Paper, scheduled for January 20. Several students have raised alarms about a discrepancy between the paper code mentioned on their admit cards and the one listed on the official datesheet.
This mismatch has left many candidates uncertain and worried about whether they applied for and will be appearing in the correct examination. The uncertainty has compounded the stress during a critical academic period.
The cumulative effect of these incidents points to serious coordination issues within the university's examination machinery. Students, already under the strain of assessments, have been subjected to unnecessary anxiety and disruption, raising questions about the preparedness and reliability of the administrative process at Lucknow University.
