Lucknow University Expands Astrology Consultancy Services to General Public
In a significant move to democratize access to academic astrology, Lucknow University has announced the opening of its specialized Jyotish Paramarsh Kendra (Astrology Consultancy Centre) to the general public. Previously restricted to university students and staff, this initiative aims to provide a regulated, evidence-based platform for astrological consultations, addressing a field often characterized by informal practices.
Structured Services with Fixed Consultation Durations
The center, operated by the Department of Jyotir Vigyan (Astrological Sciences), will offer professional guidance on a wide array of life matters. Key areas include career planning, health concerns, marriage compatibility, and financial management. According to university officials, the shift to public service ensures a structured and documented approach, with fixed consultation times and official financial receipts issued for all transactions.
Each consultation is designed to be thorough, typically lasting a minimum of 15 minutes and based on detailed birth charts. The standard fee for these sessions starts at Rs 1,500. For shorter consultations focusing on specific areas such as foreign travel prospects, social status, prestige, or political career analysis, a rate of Rs 500 for 15 minutes has been established.
Diverse Astrological Services and Pricing
The university has outlined a comprehensive pricing structure for various astrological services:
- Hora astrology and palmistry sessions: 30 minutes at Rs 700.
- Numerology-based counselling: Available at Rs 1,700.
- Specialized assessments: Including the impact of tantra-mantra practices and interpretation of omens and dreams, offered for 30 minutes at Rs 1,900.
- Horoscope matching: With manglik analysis, priced at Rs 1,500.
Additionally, the center will prepare horoscopes on demand, with varying delivery times and costs:
- A short horoscope (teva) within three days for Rs 500.
- A medium horoscope with lagna and chandra charts within seven days for Rs 1,100.
- A detailed horoscope analysis within 15 days for Rs 3,100.
- A computerised horoscope with shadvarga analysis available within a day at Rs 1,100.
For Vastu consultancy, charges are set at Rs 5 per square foot for residential properties and Rs 15 per square foot for commercial properties, contingent on the submission of site maps with clear directional details.
Academic Backing and Operational Framework
Lucknow University has been offering academic courses in Jyotir Vigyan since October 18, 2001, with graduate and MA programmes conducted in Hindi, English, and Sanskrit. The Jyotish Paramarsh Kendra, which began operations in August, initially served only the university community but will now extend its services to the public.
Shyamlesh Kumar Tiwari, coordinator of the Jyotir Vigyan department, confirmed that the university administration has approved the service framework and associated charges. "The necessary upgradation of the centre will be undertaken, based on the requirement, before formally opening consultations," he stated.
Enhanced Accessibility and Compliance
To promote accessibility within the campus, university staff, students, and their family members will receive a 15 per cent concession on all consultancy charges. All consultations will strictly adhere to university norms and financial regulations, with services provided only upon production of an official receipt issued by the finance department.
The center will offer counselling on diverse topics, including career and income prospects, health issues, education, marriage, progeny, housing, financial status, investments, and property-related matters. Detailed operational guidelines for appointments and documentation are expected to be released in the coming days, ensuring a transparent and efficient process for all users.
