Mangalore University Odd Semester Exams Start Dec 29; PG Tests Delayed to Jan 12
Mangalore University Odd Semester Exams Begin Dec 29

Mangalore University has officially announced the schedule for its upcoming odd semester examinations, marking the start of a crucial academic period for thousands of students. The undergraduate exams for semesters 1, 3, and 5 are set to begin on December 29, while the postgraduate examinations, after multiple delays, will now commence on January 12.

Revised Undergraduate Exam Schedule and Higher Turnout

According to the university's Registrar (Evaluation), Devendrappa H, the exact number of candidates registered for the undergraduate exams is still being finalized. However, he confirmed that the number of examinees is higher this year compared to the previous academic session. The examinations are being conducted through the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS), and the final data on candidate numbers will be available only after all exams conclude.

The odd semester exams were originally scheduled to be held a month earlier but were pushed to December. This shift occurred after the state government extended the odd semester by an additional month. The extension was granted due to the late arrival of guest faculty at government first-grade colleges across Karnataka, which impacted the academic calendar.

Devendrappa stated that the core subject examinations are expected to conclude by January 25, with the entire semester exam process wrapping up by the first week of February.

Triple Postponement for Postgraduate Examinations

In a separate development, the postgraduate examinations have faced significant rescheduling. Initially planned for the end of December, the exams were postponed twice before finally being slated for January 12.

Devendrappa explained the reason behind the third postponement. Third-semester postgraduate students requested the delay as they needed to prepare for and attend the UGC-NET examination. The university acknowledged the students' concern about having insufficient preparation time and rescheduled the tests accordingly. Over 3,000 postgraduate students are expected to appear for these exams.

University Ensures Smooth and Foolproof Conduct

Prior to the commencement of the examinations, Mangalore University has implemented comprehensive arrangements to ensure their smooth and fair conduct. The registrar emphasized that the top priority is to conduct foolproof exams without causing any inconvenience to the candidates.

"We have already communicated the necessary guidelines and instructions to all examination centers through an official letter," Devendrappa said. This proactive measure aims to standardize procedures and prevent any administrative hiccups across the various test venues.

As students across the region finalize their preparations, the university's administration remains focused on delivering a seamless examination experience for all participants in the upcoming crucial tests.
