The Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad has officially announced the schedule for its much-anticipated Global Alumni Convention (GAC) 2026. The decision was finalized during the inaugural executive committee meeting of the MNNIT Alumni Association (MAA) for the 2025–26 session, which was led by the working president, Professor Avanish Kumar Dubey.
Grand Celebrations for Jubilee Batches
The upcoming convention, scheduled for November 21 and 22, 2026, promises to be a landmark event. It will feature special celebrations for alumni from three significant batches. The 1966 batch will mark their diamond jubilee, the 1976 batch will celebrate their golden jubilee, and the 2001 batch will observe their silver jubilee anniversary. Notably, the 1976 batch will also commemorate "Dosti ke 50 Varsh", honoring five decades of enduring friendship and connection with their alma mater.
Revised Distinguished Alumni Awards & Expanded Engagement
In a significant move, the MAA has issued the notification for the Distinguished Alumni Awards 2026. The nomination process is now open and will continue until June 30, 2026. A dedicated search-cum-selection committee will then evaluate the submissions and recommend the final awardees.
Eligibility for nomination is broad, allowing for self-nominations as well as proposals from fellow alumni, current faculty, staff, and students of MNNIT. This year, the award framework has been streamlined from eight to five categories, though multiple winners may be selected within a single category. The committee has emphasized that contributions to the institute and the alumni association will be a key factor in the selection. The awards will be presented during the convention on November 22, 2026.
To foster stronger connections with its global alumni network, the executive committee has also planned to organize regional alumni meets in various Indian and international cities throughout the year, supplementing the main convention in Prayagraj.
New Scholarships and Cultural Initiatives
Looking beyond alumni engagement, the committee approved several student-centric welfare measures. New merit and merit-cum-means scholarships will be introduced to support academically brilliant students. Furthermore, provisions for financial assistance will be made available for students from economically weaker backgrounds.
In a unique cultural outreach effort, the MAA resolved to establish an annual alumni camp at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj. This initiative aims to facilitate religious and cultural activities, providing a familiar and meaningful gathering point for alumni during the iconic festival.
These comprehensive plans underscore MNNIT Allahabad's commitment to nurturing a lifelong bond with its graduates while simultaneously investing in the welfare and future of its current student community.
