Osmania University Takes Disciplinary Action Against Faculty Member
Osmania University in Hyderabad has suspended a faculty member following serious allegations of misconduct. The suspended individual previously served as president of the Osmania University Teachers' Association.
Multiple Violations Lead to Suspension
The university administration cited several reasons for this disciplinary action. They accused the faculty member of running parallel administration within the institution. The administration also pointed to ethical violations and what they described as a sustained defamation campaign against university officials.
An eight-member internal committee investigated the matter thoroughly before the university made its decision. This committee highlighted a concerning pattern of behavior from the faculty member.
Committee Findings Reveal Serious Concerns
The investigation committee discovered that the faculty member repeatedly tried to influence administrative decisions. According to their report, he attempted to pressure the administration into making concessions that would bypass established meritocratic standards.
Despite receiving full salary and benefits from the university, the faculty member consistently violated the University Code of Conduct. The committee noted his total lack of institutional responsibility in their findings.
Defamation Campaign Against Senior Officials
The situation escalated significantly after September 29, 2025. On that date, Osmania University conducted transparent Career Advancement Scheme promotions. The university promoted 95 faculty members based strictly on merit during this process.
Following these promotions, the suspended faculty member launched what the university calls a relentless campaign. He targeted the reputation of the vice-chancellor and other senior officials directly. University authorities stated he showed persistent disrespect for the institution's highest offices.
The faculty member failed to observe the basic decorum expected from a senior academic, according to the university's official release.
Misuse of Expired Association Letterheads
The university revealed another concerning aspect of this case. The faculty member continued issuing mandates using expired Osmania University Teachers' Association letterheads. These letterheads became invalid in September 2024, yet he used them for more than a year afterward.
This action misled external government offices and the general public, creating confusion about official university communications.
University Leadership Speaks Out
G Naresh Reddy, the registrar of Osmania University, made strong statements about the situation. He emphasized that an institution of Osmania's stature cannot be held hostage to individual whims.
Reddy specifically noted the faculty member accepted university benefits while simultaneously working to damage the institution's reputation. He described this as unacceptable behavior that required decisive action.
The registrar further explained the damage caused by the faculty member's actions. By making baseless comments and prioritizing personal vendettas, he harmed the university's global standing significantly. Reddy characterized this harm as irreparable in nature.
Osmania University maintains that this disciplinary action protects institutional integrity. The administration believes it must uphold meritocratic standards and professional decorum among faculty members.
