Patna University Unveils Detailed Academic Calendar for 2026-27 Session
Patna University officially released its comprehensive academic calendar for the 2026-27 academic year on Wednesday, providing a full outline of admission procedures, class commencement dates, examination schedules, and result publication timelines for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Undergraduate Admissions: Key Dates and Procedures
According to the calendar published on the university's website, online applications for four-year undergraduate courses—including both conventional and self-financing modes—will open on May 9. The submission window will close on May 30. These admissions apply to constituent colleges such as Patna College, Patna Science College, Magadh Mahila College, B N College, and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya.
For regular undergraduate honours programs in arts, science, and commerce within the general stream, Patna University will not conduct entrance tests. Instead, admissions will be based solely on candidates' marks from their Class XII examinations, as assessed by various educational boards. However, entrance tests have been scheduled for professional and self-financing courses.
Dean of Students' Welfare, Kameshwar Pandit, confirmed that the final deadline for admission to all undergraduate programs is July 7. An induction meeting for newly admitted UG students is set for July 10, with classes commencing on July 11.
Entrance Test Schedules for Specific Courses
Dean Pandit detailed the entrance test dates for several specialized programs. The Bachelor of Fine Arts entrance test will be held on June 12. On June 13, tests will be conducted for admission to LLB (3-year), LLB (5-year), BBA, BCA, and B Lib Science courses. Additionally, entrance tests for BMC, Functional English, and Environment Science are scheduled for June 14.
Postgraduate Admissions: Timeline and Criteria
For postgraduate courses, both regular and self-financing, online application submissions will begin on June 10, with a deadline of June 30. The last date for admission to all general PG courses is July 15. An induction meeting for new PG students is planned for July 16, and classes will start on July 17.
While most postgraduate courses in conventional mode will admit students based on marks from their last qualifying examination, certain programs—including LLM, MEd, and Master in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations—will require entrance tests. The deadline for admission to these specific courses is July 25, with classes beginning on July 28.
This academic calendar aims to streamline the admission process and ensure a structured academic year for students at Patna University, facilitating timely planning and preparation for the upcoming session.
