Patliputra University (PPU) is set to host its fifth convocation ceremony at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the academic calendar of Bihar. The event will commence at 10 am, with Governor-cum-chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan presiding over the proceedings, underscoring the importance of this occasion for the university and its stakeholders.
Celebrating Academic Excellence and Gender Parity
In a notable highlight, PPU Vice-Chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh revealed that out of the 31 toppers from various disciplines who will be awarded gold medals, an impressive 22 are girls, showcasing a strong representation of female academic achievers. This trend extends to higher research degrees, as 71 research scholars who completed their PhDs by December 31 last year will receive doctoral degrees, with 49 of them being women, reflecting a commendable gender balance in advanced studies.
Massive Scale of Degree Conferrals
The convocation will also see degrees formally declared for a vast number of students, including 8,994 postgraduate students from the academic session 2023–25 and 90,139 undergraduate students from the session 2022–25. This large-scale recognition underscores PPU's role as a pivotal institution in Bihar's higher education landscape, contributing significantly to the state's intellectual capital.
Expanding Academic Footprint
Further emphasizing the university's growth, VC Singh added that 183 colleges are currently functioning successfully under the jurisdiction of Patliputra University. This expansion highlights PPU's commitment to broadening access to quality education and fostering academic excellence across multiple disciplines in the region.
The ceremony is expected to be a grand affair, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries to celebrate the achievements of the academic community. With Governor Khan at the helm, the event promises to inspire future generations of learners and reinforce the value of education in societal development.
