Rayat Bahra University (RBU) celebrated a significant academic milestone as it hosted its 9th annual convocation ceremony at its campus in Chandigarh. The event marked a proud day for the institution, with a total of 951 students receiving their hard-earned degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.
Governor's Call for Mentorship and Action Against Drugs
Delivering the convocation address as the chief guest, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria underscored the pivotal and transformative role educators play in building the nation. He called for collective action to protect the youth from the escalating menace of drug abuse.
Addressing the evolving challenges in education, the Governor stated that teachers must now go beyond being academic guides. He emphasised their new role as mentors who can identify emotional and behavioural changes in their students. He commended RBU for its initiatives like awarding scholarships and providing freeships, which promote inclusive learning and ensure that financial limitations do not hinder any deserving student's academic journey.
Governor Kataria also urged the university management to extend its efforts to nurture talent from border regions by establishing quality educational institutes in those areas as well.
Celebrating Academic Excellence Across Disciplines
The convocation saw degrees awarded to 23 PhD scholars, 400 postgraduate students, and 510 undergraduate students. Additionally, the university conferred 18 Gold Medals to top performers. The graduating students hailed from diverse schools within the university, including:

- School of Management Studies
- School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- School of Engineering and Technology
- School of Social Sciences
- School of Education
- School of Hotel Management
According to Abhinav Ashish Tripathy, the Controller of Examinations, the convocation represented the culmination of rigorous academic efforts from students across these wide-ranging disciplines.
Dignitaries Congratulate Graduates on Their Success
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University and Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, congratulated the graduates and postgraduates, wishing them immense success in their future endeavours.
The guest of honour, Avinash Rai Khanna, former MP, highlighted the timeless values of hard work and unwavering dedication. He expressed confidence that the education imparted at Rayat Bahra University had equipped the outgoing students to competently face the competitive and demanding professional world.
The ceremony was graced by other distinguished guests of honour, including Commander Navneet Bali, Executive Director and CEO of Morgan Stanley, USA, and Hari Singh Bhambra, Managing Director of Preet Tractors Private Ltd.
Also present on the occasion were Gurinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Chairman of the Rayat Bahra group, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Group Vice Chancellor, and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. SK Bansal.
The 9th convocation of Rayat Bahra University not only celebrated academic achievement but also reinforced the institution's commitment to creating responsible citizens and future leaders for the nation.
