UK's Southampton University Visits CUJ for Tribal Research & Academic MoU
Southampton University Delegation Visits CUJ for Collaboration

A high-level delegation from the prestigious University of Southampton in the United Kingdom visited the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) on Thursday. The primary aim of the visit was to explore a formal partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to undertake socially relevant joint research projects.

Building Bridges for Action-Oriented Research

During the significant meeting at the CUJ campus, Professor Sabu S Padmadas, representing the University of Southampton, held detailed discussions with the Vice-Chancellor of CUJ, Professor Kshiti Bhusan Das. An official statement released by CUJ outlined the key outcomes of the dialogue.

Both institutions agreed in principle to organize an international conference focused on tribal health and education from the unique perspective of Jharkhand. They emphasized that all academic activities stemming from the collaboration must have clear, action-oriented goals designed to serve societal and national needs.

Focus on Tribal Upliftment and Policy Impact

The discussions went beyond general collaboration. The university officials delved into specifics, including the development of a joint curriculum and various academic and research initiatives. A core objective is to generate insights that can directly aid policymakers.

A concerted effort will be made to evolve concrete policies for the upliftment of Jharkhand's marginalised tribal communities. This focus aligns the potential partnership with ground-level social impact, ensuring research translates into tangible benefits.

CUJ's Growing Global Footprint

Vice-Chancellor Professor Kshiti Bhusan Das highlighted the growing stature of CUJ. He stated that the university is steadily gaining recognition both nationally and internationally. This proposed MoU is a part of a broader vision to link with leading global universities.

Das emphasized that such partnerships will have deep Jharkhand-centric goals while aligning with the national interest of developing a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India). The collaboration with the University of Southampton marks a strategic step in integrating local tribal development with international academic expertise.
