Aamir Ali's Emotional Journey from Television to Bollywood Films
In a candid and revealing interview, actor Aamir Ali, best known for his memorable role in the television series FIR, has opened up about the emotionally challenging transition from television to films. He detailed how this career shift has become comparatively easier for actors today, while reflecting on his own difficult experiences.
The Initial Struggle and Financial Hardship
Aamir Ali spoke about the emotional toll when his film career slowed down, forcing him to return to television. "I left my job because I thought I had arrived after doing 2-3 films," he revealed. However, reality struck hard when his signed films got shelved, and he faced severe financial constraints. "I didn't even have money to eat food. I had to look after the house," Aamir shared, highlighting the dire circumstances that compelled his return to television.
Emotional Turmoil and Reluctant Return to TV
The actor described his initial disinterest in television, viewing it as a setback for his acting career. "For me, doing TV was the end of me as an actor," he admitted. Aamir recounted crying daily in his van during this phase and emotional encounters with film colleagues. "If they asked why I was doing television, I used to just hold them and cry for half an hour," he said, illustrating the depth of his distress.
Payment Issues and Industry Challenges
Aamir further explained that incomplete payments from film projects exacerbated his situation. "I didn't get the money that was committed... people used to give 10-20% of that," he stated. Despite reaching out to filmmakers in 2019 and receiving encouragement, work remained elusive. "They fed me with love, but didn't give work," he noted, pointing to the disconnect between praise and opportunity.
Ongoing Struggles and Typecasting Issues
The actor revealed that challenges persist in his career today. "I am still facing the same challenge," Aamir said, addressing how his image limits opportunities. "Erasing the image that I look urban or I am heroish is difficult," he explained, acknowledging that filmmakers often prioritize launching family members over established actors like him. "They have their own nephew and niece to launch... I just want quality work," he emphasized, underscoring his continued pursuit of meaningful roles.
Reflections on 'FIR' and Character Legacy
Aamir Ali also touched upon his iconic role in FIR, noting how the character Bajrang Pandey remains unforgettable. "The sets of 'FIR' was like a picnic; nobody lets me forget my character 'Bajrang Pandey'," he shared, reflecting on the lasting impact of his television work amidst his film aspirations.
