In a hilarious turn of events, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was recently thrown out of his own office by his security personnel. The unbelievable incident, captured in a new promotional video, occurred after the guards mistook the real Aamir for popular comedian and mimicry artist Sunil Grover.
The Prank That Fooled Everyone
The uproarious clip is part of the promotional campaign for Aamir Khan's upcoming production, Happy Patel. The film marks the directorial debut of comedian-actor Vir Das, who also plays a pivotal role. The video begins with Vir Das walking into Aamir Khan's office, only to find Sunil Grover seated inside, impeccably dressed as Aamir and completely in character.
Despite initial confusion, Sunil's convincing act wins over Vir Das. Pretending to be Aamir, Sunil praises Vir for the film Happy Patel, hands him a bonus cheque, and even encourages him to make a sequel on the spot. "It is my experience. If the film isn't a super hit then my name is not Aamir Khan. It will get an Oscar. Take sequel's cheque," Sunil says in character.
The Real Aamir Khan Arrives to Chaos
The situation escalates when the real Aamir Khan enters the scene, visibly furious at finding an impersonator in his chair. When Aamir demands to know "Who is this?", a bewildered Vir Das fails to recognise him. An angry Aamir even threatens to slap Vir. Sunil Grover, still in character, adds to the confusion by asking Aamir, "Aap kaun hai bhaisahab?"
In a classic comedic twist, Vir Das points at the genuine Aamir Khan and identifies him as Sunil Grover. This misidentification infuriates Aamir further, prompting him to call security. However, the security guards, who had earlier received "fat cheques" from the fake Aamir (Sunil), are also utterly confused. In the climax of the promo, they end up dragging the real Aamir Khan out of his own office, leaving the imposter Sunil Grover in charge.
Background of the Viral Mimicry
This promotional stunt capitalises on the recent viral fame of Sunil Grover's Aamir Khan mimicry. During a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, which featured guests Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, Sunil's spot-on impersonation left everyone in splits and quickly spread across social media.
Aamir Khan himself had praised Sunil's performance in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. "I wouldn't even call it mimicry. It was so authentic, I felt like I was watching myself," Aamir said. He added that he laughed so hard he couldn't breathe and confirmed there was no malice in the act. The actor also mentioned that after seeing a clip, he intended to watch the entire episode.
Sunil Grover has built a reputation for his impeccable mimicry of Bollywood icons, including Shah Rukh Khan, but his take on Aamir Khan has struck a particular chord with audiences, leading to this clever and meta promotional crossover.
