Aamir Khan Announces Acting Comeback at IFFI 2025, Reveals Future Plans
Aamir Khan to focus on acting after current productions

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has announced his much-anticipated return to acting, revealing his plans during a candid session at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 in Goa. The actor, who has been focusing primarily on production work recently, confirmed that he will shift his attention back to acting once his current slate of movies under production are completed.

The Emotional Script Selector

During the session titled 'The Narrative Architect of Social Transformation and Inclusivity,' Aamir Khan opened up about his unconventional approach to choosing scripts. The actor emphasized that he doesn't consciously select films with social messages, but rather follows his emotional connection to the story.

"I choose films purely based on my emotional excitement for the story, even if it goes completely against the norm," Aamir revealed. "Most of my decisions have been impractical by industry standards. When we made Lagaan, even Javed Saab advised us not to. By all logic, I shouldn't have become a star, I broke every rule."

The three-time National Award winner expressed gratitude that his unconventional choices somehow connected with audiences. He specifically credited writers for creating the worlds and characters in films like Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, Dangal, and the recent production Laapataa Ladies.

"I am a complete film personality, not an activist," Aamir clarified. "My primary objective is to entertain my audience. Many of my films address social issues, but that happened organically, not by design."

Tribute to a Legend and Direction Dreams

The session also became emotional when Aamir spoke about the recent passing of veteran actor Dharmendra. Though he attended the last rites, Aamir couldn't make it to the prayer meet due to his IFFI commitments.

"Though hailed as the He-Man of Indian cinema, he was equally brilliant in all genres including romance, comedy and drama; an actor of remarkable range and presence," Aamir said while mourning the loss. "He was a gentle giant and finest actor. His mastery of language, innate dignity and extraordinary range as an artist made him an institution in himself."

Looking toward the future, Aamir dropped a significant revelation about his potential move to direction. He described filmmaking as his "big love" and admitted that if he ever consciously decides to take up direction, he would likely stop acting entirely.

"Direction is actually my big love. Filmmaking is what I enjoy the most," Aamir confessed. "I did direct once, but that was more out of a crisis, so it doesn't really count as a planned move. But the day I consciously decide to take up direction, I'll probably stop acting, because it will consume me completely. That's why I'm delaying that decision for now."

The Comeback Trail

Aamir Khan's announcement marks a significant moment for Bollywood enthusiasts who have been waiting for the actor's return to the screen. His last acting appearance was in Sitaare Zameen Par, after which he has been largely concentrating on production work.

The actor's revelation at IFFI 2025 signals a new chapter in his illustrious career, promising that audiences will see more of Mr. Perfectionist in front of the camera once his current production commitments are fulfilled. While he didn't specify timelines or projects, his clear intention to return to acting has already generated excitement among fans and industry observers alike.

As the festival concluded, Aamir left attendees with the assurance that his passion for storytelling remains undiminished, whether through acting, production, or potentially direction in the distant future.
