Mumbai Police Arrest Actor Kamaal R Khan in Lokhandwala Shooting Case
The Mumbai police have taken actor Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, into custody in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in the Lokhandwala area of Andheri. The arrest was made early on Saturday morning following an investigation into the firing of two bullets at a residential building last Sunday.
Details of the Arrest and Charges
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Dikshit Gedam, Kamaal R Khan has been arrested under the Arms Act. The police are currently investigating the motive behind the firing. Khan was initially detained late on Friday and has allegedly confessed to testing his licensed gun when the incident took place. The firearm has been seized by authorities, and Khan is scheduled to be produced in court on Saturday.
Incident Overview and Police Response
The shooting incident occurred on January 18, when residents of the Nalanda building in Lokhandwala heard gunshots. Upon inspection, they discovered bullet marks on the outer walls of their homes and two projectiles on the building premises. Concerned about the situation, the residents discussed the matter among themselves and subsequently reported it to the police.
The Oshiwara police responded promptly, arriving at the scene to verify the claims. After their assessment, a case was registered against an unknown individual. Preliminary investigations suggest that the flat owners do not have any personal or professional disputes that might have led to the incident.
Ongoing Investigations and Forensic Analysis
In addition to the local police, the Crime Branch is conducting a parallel investigation into the case. The bullets recovered from the scene have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Kalina for chemical analysis, and the results are awaited. Authorities have also reviewed footage from multiple CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity to gather more evidence.
This arrest highlights the Mumbai police's commitment to maintaining public safety and enforcing strict measures under the Arms Act to prevent such incidents in residential areas.
