Ajay Devgn Recalls Witnessing Fatal Skydiving Accident Before His Stunt
Ajay Devgn Saw Man Die in Skydiving Accident Before Jump

Bollywood's celebrated action hero Ajay Devgn has revealed a chilling experience from his film career, recalling how he witnessed a fatal skydiving accident moments before he was scheduled to perform the same dangerous stunt himself.

The Fatal Incident That Shook The Bollywood Star

During a recent interview, Devgn described arriving at a skydiving location in the United States for a film shoot when tragedy struck immediately. "As soon as I reached, I saw someone fall because his parachute didn't open, and he died—right in front of me. And it was me next," the actor recalled, still visibly affected by the memory years later.

The area was known as a popular skydiving zone among experts, with professional stunt performers already shooting mid-air jumps when Devgn arrived. The timing of the fatal accident created an especially harrowing situation for the actor, who had to proceed with his own jump immediately after witnessing the tragedy.

No Practice, Just Pure Courage

The shocking revelation first came to light through Devgn's De De Pyaar De 2 co-star R Madhavan, who shared during a BookMyShow interview that Devgn performed the skydiving stunt without any prior practice. Madhavan emphasized the extraordinary nature of this feat, stating, "He has jumped out of a plane, skydiving, without any practice. He has done it in a movie."

Despite the traumatic experience of watching another skydiver fall to his death, Devgn was contractually obligated to complete the stunt. The production required him to follow strict safety protocols before the jump, including recording a video statement confirming his voluntary participation and signing extensive paperwork acknowledging the life-threatening risks involved.

Hollywood Parallels and Lasting Impact

Devgn also mentioned a chilling parallel involving Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio at the same location. "Something similar happened with Leonardo DiCaprio, but his instructor jumped after him and saved his life," Devgn noted. According to the Bollywood star, there's even a message from DiCaprio at the location that reads: 'Thanks for saving my life.'

This harrowing experience adds to Devgn's reputation as one of Bollywood's most committed action performers. Born to legendary action director Veeru Devgn, the actor cemented his action hero status from his very debut in Phool Aur Kaante (1991), performing the iconic split-leg entry atop two moving motorcycles. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for performing his own dangerous stunts, demonstrating an unshakeable commitment to his craft that nearly cost him his life during this skydiving sequence.

The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the real dangers film stars face when performing action sequences, even with professional supervision and safety measures in place.
