AR Rahman turned Chennai's Valentine's Day into a soaring celebration of love, music, and nostalgia, delivering an electrifying concert that had the entire city singing along in unison. Surprise Appearances Elevate the Charged Atmosphere
The energy hit a fever pitch when actor-singer Dhanush made a surprise appearance to perform Adangatha Asuran from the film Raayan, drawing thunderous cheers and elevating an already charged atmosphere to new heights. In another unexpected twist, stand-up comedian Alexander Babu turned singer for Rahman with his heartfelt rendition of Raasathi, later expressing on Instagram that it was a privilege to be in the midst and sing some lines.
Star-Studded Lineup of Vocalists Creates Unforgettable Moments
The concert featured a star-studded lineup of vocalists who joined Rahman on stage throughout the evening, including Rakshita Suresh, Charulatha Mani, Chinmayi Sripada, Amritha Suresh, Anupamaa, Srinivas, A R Ameen, and Adithya RK. For Chinmayi, the event was extra special as it marked 24 years since the release of Kannathil Muthamittal, which featured her debut song Oru Deivam Thandha Poove. She described performing with Rahman Sir in Chennai as surreal after all these years.
Anupamaa brought the house down as she performed Chandralekha from Thiruda Thiruda (1993) more than three decades after its release, matching the song's original energy and spark. Fans hailed her as the 'OG' on social media, while the singer later wrote on Instagram about singing this song after 27 odd years on stage with the one and only AR Rahman.
Rahman's Emotional Sign-Off Before Social Media Sabbatical
After the concert, the Academy Award winner shared a video on social media, posting, "Home sweet home ..my loving clan ..touched," and added that the concert felt like the perfect way to sign off before his social media break. He wrote, "Ps ..before I take a sabbatical for the next 40 days from social media ..this is a nice way to sign off."
