The couple first met in 1988 at a friend's place and continued their conversation at a club later that night. What began as what they both describe as "a one-night stand" quickly developed into something much more meaningful.
"This was meant to be a fling, a one-night stand," Parmeet recalled during their conversation. Archana added, "Very casual." Both had recently ended previous relationships and considered themselves in a "rebound phase." They explicitly told each other their connection wouldn't become serious, repeating this assurance to one another regularly in the early days.
Overcoming Doubts and Social Differences
Parmeet admitted he initially felt Archana was "completely out of my league." He came from a middle-class background while she had already achieved fame with the 1987 film "Jalwa." "I didn't know that someone like you would ever say yes to me," he confessed.
Despite these doubts, their connection grew stronger. Parmeet developed a romantic tradition of buying Archana three red roses, though he humorously admitted he often borrowed money from her to make these purchases. When Archana eventually suggested he stop buying the roses due to the financial arrangement, Parmeet worried she wanted to end their relationship.

Archana shared a particularly memorable incident from their early months together. While proclaiming his love in her kitchen, Parmeet accidentally used his ex-girlfriend's name instead of Archana's. "You said, 'Parmeet and dash's jodi will always be there' and the dash you said was not my name," she recalled.
Parmeet was shocked by this revelation, having completely forgotten the incident. Archana explained she handled the situation with humor and understanding, recognizing that his previous relationship had lasted four years while they had only been together for four months at that point.
