Arya Opens Up About Demanding Underwater Sequences in Upcoming Thriller 'Mr. X'
Actor Arya is intensifying preparations for the release of his highly anticipated action thriller, 'Mr. X,' directed by Manu Anand. The film features a stellar cast including Gautham Karthik, Manju Warrier, and Sarathkumar in pivotal roles and is set to premiere in theaters on April 17. As the launch date draws near, the team has ramped up promotional activities, with Arya recently shedding light on the film's most challenging aspect: the underwater action scenes.
Underwater Filming in a Deep Diving Pool
In a detailed video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Arya explained that the underwater sequences were shot in a specialized diving pool located in Mumbai. He emphasized the team's commitment to realism, stating, "To authentically depict the deep sea, we filmed these scenes in a diving swimming pool that was approximately 20 feet deep." This depth significantly exceeded the typical six feet used for such scenes in other films, adding a layer of complexity to the production. Arya noted that the decision to shoot at greater depths was driven by a desire for visual authenticity, though it posed substantial physical challenges for everyone involved.
Cold Water and Breath Control Challenges
The actor further revealed that the water temperature during filming was exceptionally cold, hovering around 15 to 16 degrees Celsius. "I had to perform without a shirt, which made controlling shivers in the cold water particularly difficult," Arya shared. He detailed how he had to hold his breath for 30 to 40 seconds at a time to prevent his body from shaking on camera, requiring immense focus and physical stamina. Arya admitted that this aspect was one of the toughest hurdles he faced throughout the filmmaking process, underscoring the dedication needed to achieve the desired cinematic effect.
Extended Underwater Sessions and Communication
Another major obstacle was the prolonged duration spent underwater during shoots. Arya explained that to optimize filming time, the team would remain submerged for one and a half to two hours at a stretch, alongside the camera crew. Communication with director Manu Anand was facilitated through specialized underwater speakers and microphones, allowing Arya to receive real-time instructions while executing action sequences. Despite these hardships, the actor expressed satisfaction with the final outcome, believing that audiences will appreciate the meticulous effort invested in crafting these visually stunning scenes.
The film 'Mr. X' promises to deliver high-octane action and gripping storytelling, with Arya's insights highlighting the behind-the-scenes rigor that goes into creating blockbuster entertainment. As the release date approaches, fans eagerly await to witness the results of this demanding underwater work on the big screen.
