Babil Khan Reveals Unseen Photo of Father Irrfan Khan During Cancer Battle
Actor Babil Khan, recently seen in the film 'Logout', has shared a deeply personal and previously unseen photograph of his father, the iconic actor Irrfan Khan. On Thursday, Babil posted a series of images on his social media accounts, capturing moments from his father's treatment period.
A Touching Story of Care and Resilience
In a heartfelt caption accompanying the photos, Babil recounted a poignant story from his father's most challenging phase. He revealed that during Irrfan Khan's intense cancer treatment, his mother Sutapa Sikdar developed painful foot corns from constantly running around to care for him. Despite his own suffering, Irrfan would ingeniously tie his phone to his head as a light source and carefully remove the corns from his wife's feet.
"During baba's most unbearable peak cancer period, mamma used to get corns on her feet, running around and taking care of him," Babil wrote. "So baba used to tie his phone on his head as a light source and operate on her corns. Both peeling off hardened layers of resistance towards the soft skin of love."
Remembering Irrfan Khan's Legacy
Irrfan Khan remains one of Indian cinema's most distinctive and celebrated actors, renowned for his quiet intensity, expressive eyes, and remarkable ability to convey profound emotion with minimal dialogue. His career spanned from early television roles to international acclaim in films like:
- 'The Lunchbox'
- 'Paan Singh Tomar'
- 'Life of Pi'
He uniquely bridged Bollywood and global cinema with exceptional ease. His performances consistently carried philosophical depth, reflecting a man deeply attuned to life's subtle complexities.
The Final Chapter
In 2018, Irrfan Khan publicly revealed his battle with a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer. After undergoing prolonged treatment in the United Kingdom, he briefly returned to work to complete his final film, 'Angrezi Medium'. Tragically, on April 29, 2020, he passed away in Mumbai due to complications from a colon infection.
His death marked a profound loss for cinema worldwide, but his artistic legacy endures through performances that continue to resonate as intimate, human, and timeless.
Babil's Previous Reflections
Earlier, Babil Khan had shared his perspective on meditation, emphasizing that it should not be approached as a mere act or routine. He explained that meditation, for him, transcends being a practice and represents a fundamental state of being. Babil stressed that meditation should not be treated as a separate activity or a task to simply check off a list, but rather as an integrated aspect of daily life.
