In a grand ceremony celebrating cinematic excellence, veteran Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has been bestowed with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026. This distinguished recognition honors his monumental contributions to the film industry spanning an impressive five decades.
Award Ceremony at Prestigious Venue
The momentous event unfolded at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where the Telugu film legend was celebrated for his immense service to Indian cinema. The award specifically acknowledges his indelible influence, remarkable versatility, and unparalleled dedication to the art of acting over a remarkable 50-year career.
Delhi's Honorary Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the award to Balakrishna during the ceremony, which was attended by numerous dignitaries from both the film and cultural sectors. The actor graciously accepted the honor in the presence of this distinguished gathering.
Special Screening of Award-Winning Film
The festival featured a special screening of Balakrishna's critically acclaimed film Bhagavanth Kesari, which had previously secured the award for Best Film in Telugu at the 71st National Film Awards. The screening was attended by the film's director Anil Ravipudi and producer Sahu Garapati alongside the celebrated actor.
Following the screening, Balakrishna shared heartfelt sentiments with the audience. "First and foremost, I bow down to my parents," he expressed. "Without their blessings, I would not have reached this point in my career. It is through their grace that I have excelled in the film industry for fifty years. I can proudly state that no other actor in any language or industry has maintained excellence for half a century."
Tribute to Father's Legacy
The veteran actor took the opportunity to reflect on his father's enduring legacy, particularly in the realm of women's empowerment. "My father consistently championed women's rights and empowerment," Balakrishna noted. "He pioneered legislation ensuring women received a share in their father's property and established Padmavati University in Tirupati. Whether through films or politics, he dedicated himself to advancing women's causes. We remain committed to continuing his legacy and ideals—he will forever live in our hearts."
Balakrishna further conveyed his gratitude for participating in the International Film Festival of Delhi, stating, "It brings me great joy to be part of IFFD and receive this award. I am immensely proud to showcase our film Bhagavanth Kesari at this prestigious event. My sincere thanks to everyone who provided us with this opportunity."
Previous National Recognition
This latest honor adds to Balakrishna's growing list of accolades. In 2025, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian award, in recognition of his substantial contributions to arts and cinema. This prestigious award highlighted his enduring impact on Indian cultural landscape.
