Bigg Boss 19: Amaal Mallik's Family Struggles Revealed

Bigg Boss 19 House Erupts in Nepotism Debate

The ongoing nepotism discussion that has dominated Indian entertainment circles for years found a new battleground inside the Bigg Boss 19 house. The latest episode witnessed a heated exchange between composer Amaal Mallik and actor Gaurav Khanna, bringing the privilege versus struggle conversation to the forefront once again.

The Argument That Sparked the Controversy

The confrontation began when Amaal Mallik accused Gaurav Khanna of playing a character throughout the reality show. This comment did not sit well with Gaurav, who responded with sharp criticism about Amaal's understanding of genuine struggle.

Gaurav Khanna fired back: "You are playing your character; everybody is playing a character. He thinks everyone is playing a character, just like we all think he himself is playing a solo musician character talking about his struggle."

The actor continued his pointed remarks, adding: "If he thinks he is a musician, and music is on his mind 24×7, I am not going to tell him that he is playing a character."

Amaal Mallik's Emotional Defense

Amaal Mallik immediately countered Gaurav's allegations, asserting that his struggles were genuine despite his musical background. "That is your opinion if you think I am trying to exaggerate my struggle," Amaal stated firmly.

The composer referenced an earlier incident where Gaurav had mocked him for mentioning he flew to New Zealand to visit his aunt during a low phase. "When I just said that my aunt is in New Zealand, he said that we cannot even reach where your struggle begins," Amaal revealed, highlighting the disparity in their perspectives.

The debate intensified when Gaurav pointed out the inherent privilege Amaal and his brother Armaan Malik enjoyed. "Earlier, he said his brother waited for eight hours to meet Salman Khan, so I just said that after eight hours, he had the ability to meet him. Even if we stand for 20 years, we might not get the chance," Gaurav argued.

Revealing Family Struggles and Financial Hardships

In a surprising revelation, Amaal Mallik shared details about his family's early financial struggles that contradicted the perception of privilege. "All four of us as a family used to live in a rented house, and we didn't even have money to pay the rent," the composer disclosed, painting a picture of their humble beginnings in a 1BHK flat.

Defending his brother Armaan's journey, Amaal explained: "My brother got a 'foot in the door' moment not because of anyone, but because he waited there. Nobody knew my brother." He described how Armaan would wait outside studios and approach every management possible to get opportunities.

Amaal also shared a shocking revelation about his brother's experience on a reality show: "Despite being from a musical family, he entered a reality show and wasn't treated differently. In fact, he was removed from the show with the explanation that, 'You are from a musical family; you will get more chances in the future.'"

Not the First Confrontation

This isn't the first time Amaal Mallik has faced criticism in the Bigg Boss 19 house for discussing his struggles. Previously, contestant Pranit More had mocked him for the New Zealand aunt reference, commenting: "Life of the rich. We used to go to Shirdi."

Gaurav Khanna added his own comparison, stating: "I am comparing it with my journey. If I have to visit my aunt, she lives in Kanpur."

The episode, which aired on November 14, 2025, has sparked widespread discussion among viewers about the fine line between privilege and genuine struggle in the entertainment industry.
